Invitation
On behalf of the IPS Connect 2026 organising committee, I am writing to offer you the opportunity to contribute to a network, informed and responsive international renewable energy economy.
In 2026, IPS Connect will be hosted in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, in partnership with PLN Bali Distribution. The workshop will bring together industry leaders, researchers, utility representatives, and technology providers working at the forefront of isolated and remote power systems.
IPS Connect has become the premier workshop for isolated power systems in the Pacific region, providing a platform for the exchange of cutting-edge research, emerging technologies, and practical training. The event enables academics, industry practitioners, and technical experts in renewable energy, storage, mobility, and power generation to discuss and share ideas, present results, reflect on lessons learned, and explore future projects and collaborations.
The workshop is designed to foster knowledge sharing, encourage collaboration, and build networks that support a sustainable and resilient microgrid economy. The University of Tasmania continues its successful Workshop–Tour format, first introduced in 2015, which combines technical presentations, expert discussions, and site visits to operational energy facilities.
A key feature of IPS Connect 2026 will be technical visits to energy infrastructure on Nusa Penida, including the Smart Microgrid Control Room, Diesel Power Plant, and Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). These visits will provide delegates with a unique opportunity to observe real-world renewable integration challenges and solutions within an isolated island power system.
The University of Tasmania possesses significant experience facilitating industry events in support of emerging technologies, markets, and industries. Through its longstanding leadership of IPS Connect, the University continues to provide an internationally recognised forum for the exchange of research, new technologies, operational experience, and training in isolated power systems.
In contrast to the multiple other microgrid conferences available nationally and internationally, IPS Connect 2026 offers a distinctive experience:
- We provide an interactive, in-person format that promotes meaningful engagement among a select group of delegates;
- We co-locate the workshop alongside operational renewable energy, battery storage, and isolated power system facilities, linking discussion directly to practical applications;
- We incorporate technical site visits that allow delegates to gain firsthand insights into real-world project implementation and operation;
- We continue to operate as a not-for-profit event, helping to minimise participation costs while maximising knowledge-sharing opportunities.
We acknowledge the importance of your support in the success of our workshop and will ensure that our event provides a suitable platform to interact, engage, and inform your audience. The event committee would be pleased to negotiate a specific sponsorship package to accommodate any particular needs of your organisation.
A sponsorship application form is included in this prospectus for your consideration.
We warmly invite you to join us in Bali and contribute to this important discussion on the future of isolated power systems, renewable integration, and resilient microgrid development.
